Beekeeping – Vented Jackets and Scythes

We are still Beekeeping, and still blogging…

Every time I do a project on the farm like beekeeping I think about making a blog post. This time, tho a bit late, I did.

I have really missed you. Yes, my blog readers I have missed you.

Perhaps you have even forgotten that I have a blog. That would be understandable. It’s been many months since getting on here and sharing my thoughts with you.

Life has tossed us some challenges over the last year or so. We’ve been overwhelmed with caring for Luke, our special needs son, along with a number of other family challenges. Thank you for sticking with me and giving me grace during this time.

Beekeeping! Yes, I still have bees. Here are two of the most recent videos about the beekeeping efforts on the Daddykirbs Farm in 2018.

Beekeeping – KEEPING COOL – Does the VENTED BEE JACKET HELP?

It’s hot in South Texas. It’s even hotter when you have to wear a jacket to go work in the sun. This ventilated jacket was a good purchase.

USE A SCYTHE – Bees HATE MOWERS In The Bee Yard Around Beehives

Some people claim that their bees are not negatively affected by the sound of lawn equipment. Well, they are the lucky ones. My bees are. They especially do not like the sound of the string trimmer. This older technology makes for a more pleasant weed clearing party.

I would love to read your comments about either of these two videos here on the Daddykirbs blog. Thank you for spending this time with me here.

  1. I really appreciate your beekeeping videos. Beekeeping in South Texas isn’t like beekeeping anywhere else. The frustrations that come with the weather , the pests, the “africanized” or as you say ” angry bees”. So I can relate and I admire your perseverance. Here in Victoria Dr. Cary Voss is a very knowledgeable and active beekeeper and removal resource.
