Hi, I’m Blake. You may have forgotten me due to the fact that I haven’t posted here in almost 9 months. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been active but just not here on the blog. My YouTube channel has grown quite a bit in the last 9 months. Other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, G+ Collections and Tumblr have all shown amazing signs of growth as well. Growth, Opportunity and Love are all around me.
Almost 5 years ago when we moved into our log cabin in the country, I told my wife that I wanted this place to also be a blessing to others. I could tell that this idea wasn’t comfortable to her. She probably pictured endless dinner parties and weekend shooting sports events in the backyard. You see, having people over is exhausting for my wife. Yep, I’m a junky. I have to have it. My current lifestyle depends on it.
That is a sad way to start a blog post for a guy that is presenting a lifestyle of self sufficiency, permaculture, homesteading and gardening.
If we are honest with ourselves we can recognize our real challenges. I admit that I am addicted to commercial grains, therefor I can work on finding a remedy.
The first step to finding a solution to a challenge is admitting there there is a challenge, right?
It was finally my year. My older siblings had gone before me and always came home excited. What was it like? Why were people telling so many stories? What were the life changing events? It seemed there was adventure! There was emotion! There were many new friendship bonds. This event was long awaited. Yes, I had waited a lifetime to go. Go where? Church camp. I was old enough to go to church camp!
Going to church camp was a rite of passage. This was the difference between being a child in church and being a “youth” who could participate in youth events. This was a big deal.
