Social Media: Have We Gone To Far?

Social Media: Have We Gone Too Far?

Social Media

Do you participate in a lot of Social Media sites? Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterest, Instagram, Reddit… the list goes on and on.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Do you feel chained to them? Locked in… as if, maybe, your life would be “less” without them?

Is this another addiction?

I get it. I’m pretty plugged in myself. Sometimes I have those feelings that I just described.

Take a step back and look. You are way more valuable than these sites give you credit for. You are special without all this… this stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Social Media. The connections are cool. the ability to spread my message is cool, but it should never cross the line of controlling your life.

  1. Blake, This is an amazing write up of the current situation. You’re a supportive friend.

I agree and support Rays decision not to submit to FB’s request for a copy of his drivers license. That’s a bit much.

  2. I enjoyed this post and Ray’s video very much. I’ve been lurking on your blog for some time and enjoy it! Coincidently, I’ve been sort of frozen this past six weeks or so thinking about this very thing. This freezing is not good timing since I recently started blogging about our homestead (hyerhomestead.blogspot.com) and have been seriously questioning why I ever thought it was a good idea. But, as I published a post this morning about my thoughts on homestead blogs in particular, there in my blog roll was your post. I appreciate your thoughts and have always thought your blog seemed real. Thanks for sharing this post.

  3. My husband Jacob and I found your channel this winter as we see preparing to start our first big garden. We have enjoyed your “real” videos and are grateful for your honesty and your love for Christ! Thank you for being a great encouragement to us, even though we don’t know you, it is like we do! Blessings to you and your entire family. Praying for you all this evening and for the nation as a whole that our Lords Will would be done and that we as His people would grow more and more in the knowledge and truth of His Son Jesus.
