Before I begin with How To Make Compost Seed Starting Soil , let me tell you why I need to talk about it in the first place.
If you would like to watch the video about this project scroll to the bottom of the blog post or go to my YouTube channel.
I have tried on several occasions to grow Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts from seed by direct sowing them in the garden beds. Every time the Pill Bugs attack my young sprouts and eat them all up before they get a chance to grow.
There was a suggestion made by my beautiful bride to start some in pots then transplant them in the garden after they get a little bigger so they stand a better chance against those aggressive little buggers. Well, that’s brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that? Continue reading Make Compost Seed Starting Soil→

Here on the Daddykirbs Farm we like to make good use of every resource. Compost is a good way to do that. All the bedding and poo that is generated in the chicken coops, goat pens and duck coops can go to growing better veggies.
First, I have to say… I’m pretty excited. This is my first official post on Daddykirbs.com! Yay 🙂
Cucumbers, Brussels, Broccoli, Chard, Lettuce… and feeding Goats
Sometimes it’s extremely difficult to find time to get things done! That’s how I feel right now. There’s so many things to do. The project list on the farm is getting longer and longer. But that can’t stop the garden. A farmer has got to eat and you can’t eat what you don’t plant! Luke and I take some time to do a small patch in the garden tonight. I can’t say that it’s all done correctly, but that small patch is done for now.
You see, Luke loves to garden. Luke has also been watching his daddy do gardening video for a YouTube channel for a while now. This time Luke wanted in on the action for real! He wanted to plant pumpkin seeds, but at the same time he made it clear that he wanted to have a video of it. I’m very excited to watch Luke express himself on camera because in some ways he connects very well with the camera in ways that he can’t with a live audience.
