Bee Keeping… Where do you start? How hard can it be? Where do you get supplies? Where do you get bees? How much honey do you get? How much money can you make? Can you even make money? Will I get stung? How aggressive are the bees?
All those questions and more have tumbled around in my head. This is why I decided to take a Bee Keeping Class. There is a Bee Keeper who offers a class in our area. The class takes two and a half hours but is jam packed with Continue reading Introductory Beekeeping Class: My Experience→

I’m pretty sure the answer is no, but they sure will try!
When I showed this video to some friends they made the joke that this is the first step in a popular seasonal recipe: “How to make Turducken: Step 1” … Now that’s funny right there!
If you’ve read my blog or watched my videos you know I haven’t been “country” for very long. I’m still learning as I go, but I find it interesting some of the things I used to think. I’m reminded of some of these things as I talk to friends who still live in the city.
This makes me want to highlight some of the misconceptions that city folk have about chickens. I’ve had a few good laughs about some of this.
1. “Dude, those eggs are green! Are they ok to eat?”
We have this one goat. Her name is Sweetie. Since Sweetie does not have a friend goat she like to hang out with the chickens. The chickens tolerate her… mostly. Here are few videos that show her personality a little bit.

It is a real chore getting out to water the chickens if you are using conventional gravity fed containers. Worse yet you are filling up bowls for them. They make a real mess and can be very thirsty.
Chickens need water… lots and lots of fresh clean water. I was forever running out to clean and fill containers. I just had to think of something else.
Here are a couple of videos showing how I solved my problems. This first one is for the main flock of layers.
This next one was made for the meat coop.
Enjoy!
