Chick Hatching – Easter Egger X Spangled Hamburg

We are not really in the business of raising chicks, but we do like to give it a try every now and then.  This is the second time that we’ve attempted a full batch of eggs.  Our first go was not very successful.  This time, however, it looks like we will only have two “quitters”.

UPDATE: Here is the last one that came out of the incubator.
… and finally here they are all together in the coop.

The Web She Weaves

We got another wonderful opportunity to watch nature at work here on the farm. We noticed that a large spider had made a beautiful web near our front porch.  It was a cool night so it was pleasant just standing there watching her spin her web.

The bugs started coming around the light that I was shining on the spider…. BAM, SHE CAUGHT A JUNE BUG!  Wow, she went to work FAST spinning her silk, rolling that bug over and over to wrap it up in a beautiful silk blanket.

My First YouTube Prize Giveaway

The whole idea of being a YouTuber interests me.  I’m not sure I have a lot to offer, but I’ll keep at it until I find out for sure.  Just for fun I’ve tried to “brand” my online nickname.  I have done and redone my “daddykirbs” logo a couple of times.  A couple of months ago I sent my logo to Cafe Press to have it put on some products.  When I ordered one of the water bottles for myself, I thought it would be fun to give it away on YouTube!  So… I did.

Here are the videos of that contest.

Congratulations to mshazelsworld as the winner!
